Flat screans are not the only place to watch "Glee"

Students take advantage of DVR and full web episodes to catch up on favorite shows:

Everyone knows that the TV came first, followed by Beta machines and VCRs, which led to revolutionary DVDs. All of the above have influenced how we watch our favorite shows and movies in the luxury of our own homes, but with the invention of DVRs, the world was open to endless ways of entertainment on their home television sets.

In the beginning the TV was the first way that people could see and hear the news or events at the same time. It seems like just the beginning for the mass media to sneak into the homes of the people, but it aided in new developments in how to make it easier for programs to reach television sets worldwide.
Television, VCRs, DVDs, and DVRs

The Beta machine, which was only alive for a split second because the VCR offered better qualities, which was the first step towards the digital age and DVRs.

The Digital generation sparked the invent of many things. Digital streaming stations, Internet, the sets themselves were not “tube” anymore. The late nineties brought with it the first DVRs, which got rid of the cassette tapes and brought in the use of not recording device. Yes, it did include the DVD also.

The college perspective:
Not only could you get your favorite shows and movies in your home at the exact moment you want them, you could also just record them or just play them off the internet from a black box sitting just above the combination VCR/DVD player on the TV stand.

"I don't have time to watch Law & Order, so I just TiVo it. If I didn't have a DVR I would try my best to make time to watch it, but I dont unless the TiVo stops working." said Point Park Biology student Juvonne Glenn of Duquesne, Pa.

What’s next? HULU.com and fancast.com came into the internet community as ways for us to watch those shows that maybe you could watch during its prime-time spot, and because you are not blessed with a DVR or TiVo, which is the better known DVR in the world. But these sites were also in contention with the television networks website offering full episodes as well.

The big question is:

Many students don’t have the time to watch their shows during their regular time, so they just wait until the next day or weekend to watch theirs shows. But does this take away from the nostalgia of TV, and do we even need to have stations with shows when we can just get it on out computer on our own time.

Many in the Point Park University community see the effects of the transition, but don't understand why others don't see this as just another transition into a different technological age like with in the invention of the VCR.

"If they weren't meant to make our lives easier, then they would not be as marketable as they are today." said Sarah Puhala, an acting major from Sharon, Pa. "Everyone and their mother have a DVR, but I just use the good ol' free internet to get my Law and Order SVU fix."

Reruns ruin everything. Not really

We'll this was convenient. The week long reruns has become heaven sent. I already saw all of this weeks episodes, so I don't feel so bad for falling asleep so early last night, and when it will most likely happen all other days in the week. Other than that I will be having fun posting more fun things about Jimmy and the show.

Tonight, I decided to go to the shows site and play beer pong with Jimmy and Questlove. I like it better than the real version, because I actually win (and there's the added plus of not having to drink nasty beer because the boys have to do it the manly way, and not have fruity beer pong. Who says that it has to be Bud Light, when I get my girlie mixed drinks at the liquor store my receipt always says BEER).

Anyway, I didn't even get past Higgins to play Jimmy and Questlove. I thought that this game would just be a fun way to beat the guys and past the time, but NO. You apparently to be a gamer and have a name like sandrogabr, boonjohn, or LukeIsAwesome (who all have over 18,00 points) in order to get more that 5 points, and have the luxury of gaming all night after a 9-5 job at the KFC making the world Double Downs.

Eps 231, 232: Chris Rockin' with Morgan at a Funeral

Thursday

Jimmy started on the right track talking about Sarah Palin, but he went right to one pf his typical subjects, Kate Gosselin - come on Jimmy! Then on to other things like the scientists in Britain that have successfully created embryos from the DNA of two females and on male, making it the closest that any of the scientists have ever come to a threesome.lol AND now according to Jimmy the British are trying to develop a female Viagra. They must be a horny group of people. Then Jimmy along with a bunch of his crew did shout-outs to the fans and random things/people. Very odd Late Night with Jimmy Fallon writers!

And now the nightly game. Tonight they played "Say What?!".

Then the amazing Chris Rock came on and talked about having his own talk show on HBO and hosting other shows on TV. BUT he mostly talked about his new movie out called "Death at a Funeral". Then the difference between rich people and poor people's funerals. I almost peed myself because Chris was right on about what he said.

Actress/comedian Emma Stone was then on talking about coming from Arizona, to her first winter in New York and surviving flights with people who fast forward through her part just to get to Matthew McConaughey. Its just a unjust hard life for her.

The Unseen, who are a pair of magicians came out. hmmm. Apparently they can read your mind. He actually got right that Jimmy had a picture of a Easter Bunny holding a martini glass on his iPhone.

Friday

NO, Jimmy no. He started his monologue with a joke about a Kate Gosselin. Stay away from her. Do something new! He moved onto Arnold, which is perfect in my eyes because that stuff never gets old. Thank you carding writing then ensued. Enough said. Boring.

Straight No Chaser, an a capella group, sang TGIF themes. Interesting, but I was more interested in my computer screen for that 3 minutes.

But Tracy Morgan more than made up for me not laughing at the intro. I will always miss him being on SNL. He has a fighting spider called Hank. Here watch....

The hosts from Diggnation came on next. Their show gets 35 million online viewers every month. Apparently if you tell twitter that you are going to throw iPads out your window in NYC people show up and there is a good chance that you might get punched in the kidneys when you actually get one of the cases.

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh from the University of Nebraska, who is projected to be drafted at the top of the first round this year talked about his upcoming NFL team choice.

The Flaming Lips with StarDeath & White Dwarfs
performed.

Eps 229,230: Ripa the pong, and swallowing smoke

Tuesday, Episode 229

Tiger Woods and other mistresses.... Elliot Spitzer
The Pros and Cons segment centered around the new Double Down from KFC. Which is hundreds of calories and provide you with a numbers of vitamins and minerals, but also will come with front-butt. It's competition? the triple by-bass.

Kelly Ripa, in her amazing red dress and body, came out talking about fitness and her cycle class that she loves to take. She told Jimmy of the time that she took Anderson Cooper and Jeff Probst to class and told them that they were cycling to get Regis's job. lol. I would have loved to see that! She then proceeded to play beer pong with Jimmy, and got one ball in. Good for her on her first time! You can go to latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/beerpong to play with Jimmy and others from the show.

Eric Stonestreet from "Modern Family" then came on the show to talk about the show getting picked up for the second season, and going to his first Knicks game.

The Specials then performed on American TV for the first time in 30 years.

Wednesday, Episode 230

According to Jimmy there is a porn magazine for blind people. end of segment.
In the next the segment was a game called "Spanx or No Spanx", where men put on Spanx and then struggled to take them off depositing them into a Spanx bank

Stevie Starr - the regurgitator. WATCH!

Michael J.Fox came on to talk about his new book called "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future" where he talks to students about what happens after graduation. In his segment he also talks about trying to get Neil Young to sing "Pants on the Ground" at the closing ceremony at the past winter Olympics. I also learned that he didn't graduate from high school, and ended up getting his GED in his 30s.

Green Day was then on to talk about "American Idiot", which is their broadway staged production that opens April 20.

Kaki King was the musical guest that night.

Eps 228: Freestylin' without tress growing out of the Woods body

During Jimmy's monologue, he talked about a beer in NY that would be six times stronger that Bud Light, a gay Jesus and Heidi Montague's body being just as obscene/disturbing as the new Double Down from KFC.

AND what he didn't put into his monologue.... Mr. Woods, he did in another segment with a song. Don't get too excited it was just Jimmy and weird back up singers chanting "like a tree growing out of your body"..... very disturbing. One of the "dancers" was running around in suspenders and whitey-tidy's.

Then, if it wasn't enough for the house band, The Roots, to do the last segment, they had another called "Freestylin' with the Roots". The way that people can just pull things out of their heads and make it funny puzzles me. I don't understand how this is possible, but that's what the show strives off of because Jimmy, Higgins, AND the Roots are THAT good.

Alan Cummings was the first quest on the show. He started talking about his visit to Buckingham Palace, and how his last name came be said in the wrong way, which ended the conversation. Boogey Woogey is his new movie out, about the art world in London. It is out in theaters April 23 in New York.

Young actress Greta Gerwig is in new movie Greenberg with Ben Stiller, which is already out in theaters. She seemed like a very town to earth, hometown girl from Sacramento, Ca, and for that reason I will now go see that new movie that she is in.

Cliff Bleszinski came on next, who is a video game creator that started at the young age of 17 in the biz, to talk about his new game and how he got his start with Mario Brothers. He also showed an exclusive trailer of his new game, Gears of War III due out April 2011.

Next and last was stand up from comedian Baron Vaughn. He did a lot of "funny" singing about his travels to Las Vegas. Its not a good idea for him to continue in this career path.

Eps 227: Jeff Daniels and soooo on

Again Tiger Woods was in the monologue. Not before the end, he again talked about Kate Gosselin on Dancing with the Stars. He then danced like her, which is the funniest thing EVER.

AND cue week long thank you card writing time. First to thank is Kate Gosselin, of course and then guy who farts then walks away. And again, Tiger Woods came into another segment.

Cell Phone Shootout came back after being away for awhile. Same as before, only one of the prizes was an IPAD.

Jeff Daniels talked about Jay Leno. SO I stopped watching for a few seconds and held my ears. Paper Man - an independent film that he is in with Ryan Reynolds who plays his imaginary super hero friend.

I dont exactly know who Olivia Munn is, but I do know she likes pot and is a host on some show. But then she started talking about having cameos in Iron Man 2 and Date Night. She is actually pretty funny. She also wrote a book that is coming out this summer called "Suck it, Wonder Woman".

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club performed.

Eps 226: Tin Fey, Bieber Fever, and Mario

Jimmy again for the umpteenth time talked about Tiger Woods in the monologue.

THEN, came this. Tonight was invaded by SNL past and present cast members, the Roots and the cast of Parks and Recreation. It all began with this 6-Bee episode.

First thing he said, "HEY PAL". She was the first booking for the show.. not one the first episode, just the first that said she would appear on the show. She will be hosting this Saturday's episode of SNL, AND might, just might do a Sarah Palin skit. *fingers crossed* The musical guest is also Justin Bieber, who is a guest on the show tonight too.

Her main purpose for being on the show was to promote her new movie "Date Night" with Steve Carell. I have been waiting for this movie to come out. I love both of them together in a comedy, and at that an action comedy!

SO, then to make the night better, Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers came out to play charades with Jimmy and Tina. They acted out: The Da Vinci Code, Clash of the Titans, Straight Outta Compton, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Where the Wild Things Are.

After Justin Bieber came out, talked about Chuck Norris playing him in a movie and going out of the segment playing the drums with Questlove, Mario Batali came out to cook some kind of crushed pepper, goat cheese pasta with Jimmy. It sounds really good, and well Higgins liked it, so who wouldn't?

Thursday, April 08, 2010

Eps 225: Battle of the Instant Bands, Rachel Maddows

Again, he talked about Kate Gosselin and Tiger Woods in the monologue....

"Battle of the Instant Bands" was on again tonight, which I think is an amazingly different kind on game/segment. Tonight was especially good. To watch the entire episode click on the title for the link to the page.

Rachel Maddow was then on talking about being in People Magazine, which was a honor for her to be in. They then talked about politics, at which time I zoned out and continued to download music on my new computer.

I zoned back into the episode when they started making cocktails. They made "the communist" (gin, lemon and orange juice, and cherry haring - cherry brandy).

The Mighty Boosh came on next via webcam. The comedy duo are not touring this summer, but they have their own iPad/iPhone App called the Mightey Decider where a Crack Fox plays flip the coin for you.

Dave Annable from "Brothers and Sisters" came on next to talk about the special two-hour special this sunday on ABC.

Suzanne Vega was the musical guest.

Eps 224: Christopher Meloni and Kate

So, Jimmy started talking about the end of March Madness, but then that led into a joke about Kate Gosselin's dancing the night before on Dancing with the Stars. Then like a good boy not talking about it any further, went on talking more about the Duke - Butler game the night before. Then he went back and talked about her "Paparazzi" and showed a clip. Again he talked about Jesse James and his mistress. But tonight he talked about the mistress, Bombshell McGee's tattoos.

AND, then with the "Pros and Cons" segment he talked about Tiger Woods and his personal career along with his return to golf. Again Jimmy, again??
But, he then did this. Which made up for all talk over and over about Kate.

OH my my my. Christopher Meloni came out dancing, which was really funny. Then talked about trying to give himself the nickname of Buckwheat.... I have noticed that Christopher really gets along with Jimmy. They are just about the same person, except that Jimmy could not play a serious roll like Chris on Law and Order. They then had a rematch of "Random Object 3-Point Shootout", ad Christopher won AGAIN.

Taraji P. Henson, who stars with Tina Fey and Steve Carell in the upcoming movie "Date Night", was the next guest on the show. She talked about her new palace with heated floors, where her son has his own floor. The only thing missing? A man. Every Time someone comes on who is in "Date Night" I get super excited for this movie to come out!

Dr. Dog performed.

Eps 223: Tigers and animals oh my

Again started the his monologue with Tiger Woods and Bombshell McGee - Jesse James mistress. About 93% of his monologues lately have been about these scandals and Kate Gosselin. It's really funny that ways he makes fun of their awful lives, but its basically the same thing every time. Come on Jim Boy, do something different. From the previews for the show, I have a feeling that he will more than make up for it.

"Dancing with the cardboard cutouts of the stars", a spin-off of the "dancing on air", came to the show with Snookie, Jesse James, and Shaq. The winner got to keep her cutout (Shaq) and the looser had theirs shredded.

Mr. Stinky Porcupine and his carrots came out to the show first with Jeff Musial. Wendall- the porcupine just sat on the couch eating sweet potatoes and lettuce while the tortoise dad and son came out. then the aardvark came out. only one of 24 in the United States. Jeff then brought out a cobra and Jimmy got scared.

Bob Costas came out and stared immediately talking about the Olympics and then onto Tiger Woods. Sports is his thing so he only talked along those lines. He also talked about the sports reports on KDKA covering the Pirates for a split second.

James Badge Dale was the third guest on the show. I could not figure out who or what he did at the beginning, but then starting talking about him going to boot camp for the new mini-series directed by Tom Hanks called "The Pacific".

I have never heard of the musical guest for the night, Peter Wolf featuring Shelby Lynne. It's not my typical kind of music I listen to.

And by the way, he only kinda made up for talking about Tiger and Jesse James again.

Eps 221, 222: Gervais and clashing of the titans

Thursday started out with a hilarious new app for the iPhone that sneezes like Adam Sandler, who is one of my many favorite comedians. Then showed the new one called "Jersey Shore Yourself" where you can make yourself look like a member of the Jersey Shore. He introduced others, but they were not as funny.

Put it in Reverse, which is the new game where competing/acting in scenes backwards then playing it forward successfully and the best makes you the winner. It actually turned out really good considering that the players are not actors, or have any experience with it.

Ricky Gervais only watches his own show, other than the crazy reality shows here in the states like the Real Housewives of New York. Ricky also showed a clip of his animated series on HBO of conversations between him and his buds called "The Ricky Gervais Show".

Anthony Mackie was in the awarding winning "Hurt Locker" and is currently on Broadway in "A Behanding in Spokane" He also likes to do impersonations of Tracey Morgan and loves the New Orleans Saints.

Country singer Easton Corbin ended the show with his first #1 song, "I'm a little more country than that".

Friday:
Weekly thank you card writing was the intro to the episode Thursday. Many included, Ricky Martin for obviously coming out of the closet, and apparently she bangs, she bangs - everyone except for him (this was not called for, I love Ricky). Also he thanked the 40ish year-old man who is also named Justin Bieber, who will have to explain who he is the rest of his life.

Jimmy then wanted to add in his thoughts a new upcoming movie.

Sam Worthington, who was in the blockbuster "Avatar", was on the show to promote the new remake "Clash of the Titans". He talked about being an Aussie, and using his experience working with CGI on Avatar to help him with the new movie.

Editor and chief of engaget.com, Joshua Topolsky, came onto the show with an iPad to show us all why we need to get one, and the best things about it. For example it has a user interface, meaning that it is exactly like an iTouch or iPhone. It also takes away the need for a Kindle, and every other device you have right now. And it only starts at $500 for 16GB of storage and can go up to just over $829 with 3G.

Liquid Liquid performed.

Eps 220: Dancing on air, then racing blimps with Tyler Perry

The segment "dancing on air" is, I believe, the most creative and simple so-called game on late night television. This time it was not the usual college aged contestants being stupid, two of them were middle aged men that had spunk. For this reason I have decided to start out with this instead of the usual multiple subject monologue. Enjoy.

Tyler Perry talked about shooting in the Bahamas and hating it because of the huge moths that infested the set. Personally I would deal with any phobia and chilling bug/animal to be on the beach in the Bahamas, but Tyler Perry is a wussy and a damn funny one at that. He produces movies/TV shows and is on tour. He is the male version of Oprah.

The funniest part of the night was the splash shields and clear ponchos that The Roots were wearing during Dan Dunn's Paint Jam. He was a very interesting and talented painter who worked magic in about five minutes.

Musical guest: Drive-By Truckers.

Don't get me wrong, all of Jimmy's guests are funny and most of the time interesting. Lately I just feel like its not up to the standards that it once was. I use to laugh constantly, not its just maybe one or two good laughs. I hope that its just a low point and it kicks back into high speed.

Eps 219: Another disappiontment

So, I am excited to see Fred because he is one of my favorites on SNL. Only one thing is keeping me from this... and that is Episode 4 of "Late". Once Jimmy got through the monologue and the set up for his version of "Lost", there was break and then part two of "Late". The acting is kinda bad and not really funny, but the fact that it is Jimmy and a bunch of weirdos on a secret floor is kinda hilarious. I'm a little confused why Higgins is recording a journal entry... OH, and 10 minutes of the first 15 were this episode of "Late"

And now onto Fred Armisen and his requested standing ovation as he walked out for the interview. He is just a funny person, one of those that is quick and comes up with the weirdest thing to talk about. I love those who can do that and not harp on their own horrible lives. He then showed a hilarious picture of himself as a teenager... at the end of the interview plugged SNL's upcoming episode with host Tina Fey and Justin Bieber.

Next was Chuck Liddell talked about being the coach on a show called "The Ultimate Fighter 11" and also gave lessons to Jimmy and Fred. It was HILARIOUS. They event acted out a little skit leading up to Jimmy putting Fred into a choke hold.

Comedian Moshe Kasher had his network TV debut.

Eps 218: Not what I expected... pure dissappointment.

March Madness has upset the entire nation just as Sandra's cheating husband?

On Celebrity Apprentice, Darryl Strawberry was kicked off because he was exhausted. I don't know who that is, I really only watched it the first season and was done with that show because it is just ridiculous how many times Omarosa comes back. She scares me and I cant risk seeing her just for the nightmares to come back where she was my future evil boss.

Slow Jam the news with Brian Williams was an instant hit, jamming about the signing in of the health care bill, and Jimmy got Williams to say Mark Weiner, who was the congressman who had white powder sent to him in a package over the weekend. I wish I could say that the next segment with Santana was exciting and hilarious, but instead of a hit, it was a miss. Sorry Jimmy, but mustaches in a fighting ring... seriously?

Jeff Goldbloom talked about long-short hair, hair plugs, and toupees for the first few minutes of his interview. Not like your days during Jurassic Park, Goldbloom you have lost your spark and yet you still have that dorky kid handsomeness. Playing the piano and skating with Jimmy is not cool either, not cool.

Jennifer Morrison was inspired in kindergarten to be on stage and wanted to be on Broadway ever since, now she is. AND has a twitter, who is also jealous of Abigail Breslins YoAbbaAbba twitter name.

Julian Casablancas... on tour now, check it out here.

Sorry, there is not video. I did that for a reason, to spare you from a bed episode.

Eps 215,216,217: What we missed

Eps. 213 & 214: fake fighting and grand entrances

#213
Talked about health care vote live on C-SPAN and Tiger Woods two new interviews about what has been happening the last few months, and working on his marriage.

Hot Dog in Hole.... politician edition
ROLE VIDEO

Alicia Silverstone explained about her show on Broadway "Time Stands Still", where she wore a preggo belly and also elaborated on her book called "The Kind Diet" which talks about vegetarian and vegan diets.

I got a very interesting history lesson from Mark Valley on his hometown the reenactment that he will participate in in his home town in Ogdensburgh, New York. I never would have thought he was the funny type because he's so serious in his new drama Human Target. He then showed Jimmy how to get really fake fight.

Rogue Wave performed.

#214
Obama signed health care into law and then they had a special "Pros and Cons"
pros and cons of passing the health care bill... funny but not to the point to make the passing better in my eyes, even with the comedic twist.

Janet Jackson talked about her songs movie "Why Did I Get Married 2, past life and her new book "True You" and her stint as host of Saturday Night Live. She did an amazing skit with Jimmy that had to so with a tour of a vineyard's cork soakers. I tried to find it on YouTube, but had no such luck.

The best intro goes to John Cena coming out of a trap door on the isle of the audience with fog billowing out. He is so nice looking that I just cant take it, but I am not a wrestle fan at all. I don't get how its so popular, all the stunts are staged and the "acting" is so horrible. He talked the business of Wrestle mania, and I don't understand it at all, everything about it, period.

Rock band from Montreal called The Besnard Lakes had their TV debut.

Monday, March 22, 2010

Eps 212: Ted Danson and Battle of no-name instant bands

Happy Friday.. ITS Weekly thanks you card writing time and these are my favorites:
-vegan food, tasting like microwave paper towels and healthy alternative
-leaf blowers, making me look like that lamest ghost buster, I ain't afraid of no leaves
-this week, for being diversity week here at NBC.....
-people who insists on showing ultrasounds of their unborn child. they all look the same, like charcoal drawings of an alien

Jimmy made a second to tell us to always remember the Siena Saints, who lost to Purdue, because it is good to remember the team that you have never heard of due to the hundreds of schools with less than 3,500 students.

Now playing: The Battle of the Instant bands. They were formed from the lines getting into the show from musicians and had about 30 min to come up with a name and song.

30 Rockin. Amnesia

Larry Bird and Champagne jam. Doin it late night

Ted Danson's interview was not that interesting. I guess it was due to not really knowing what they were talking about. But the next segment was a "boring interview with Ted Danson". I did not see any difference between the real one and the one that was staged. The only funny part was when Jimmy couldn't stop laughing

Kara DioGuardi was interesting. I did not know that she went to school to be a lawyer, then decided to me an artist and ended up writing songs for Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion and more chart toppers...

Air performed an interesting song in which they sad "love" in a soft voice a lot. It sounded like a baby-making some if you ask me.

Friday, March 19, 2010

Eps. 211: Not dancing hard enough and bloody marrys.

Jimmy announced that late night will stick behind the 13th seat Siena Saints from Siena college in upstate New York for march madness and roots performed a song about player president aka coach, Fran McCaffery. The Siena Ricola horn blowers... Horatio Sans and some other dude.... also showed their support on the show.

Dance your hats and gloves off - no one got any of their yellow accessories off and all got scores of ZERO. Audience applause decided winner. Not the best segment....

Lucy Liu is in God of Carnige on Broadway, was in a movie with Jimmy called "The Year of Getting to Know Us" and learned how to play beer pong from Jimmy.

Gene Simmons showed Jimmy how to look sexy and get all the girls, by acting like you were constipated. He also acted like he was the interviewer. OH, and he showed everyone his ginormous tongue = gross.

Universal Record Database came to the show for Jimmy + guests to break world records:
-Bench pressing a dog 30 times in 30 seconds.
-Most basketballs held at once by a basket ball team - 35 balls.
-Longest time two dudes touched noses 10 hours 34 minutes 55 seconds.
-Largest Bloody Marry garnish by a late night host. Jimmy was a giant stick of celery

Best part of the show, when Jimmy was signing out in in the giant bloody marry, and Horatio Sans jumped in and then Jimmy acted like a basketball hoop as he was being lifted out of the enormous drink.

Eps 210: St Patty's day cheer

Jimmy always has St. Patty's day, and our snake wrangler, Samuel L. Jackson, getting pumped for March Madness, iPhone heart attack. Irish Spring Breaker, the song - Jimmy's rendition of an his grandfathers Irish tale of spring break in Daytona Beach.

Wheel of Carpet Samples as always is the ridiculous game of spinning carpet samples. But they did win $300 to the Apple store.

Dakota Fanning was also promoting the new movie The Runaways, like her bestie did the night before, Kristen Stewart. She really has grown up, but even playing a girl older than her years in a movie does not give her permission to wear a dress way too short for this interview.

After Dakota's micro swinging lesson, video questions and a break, Joseph Fiennes made the night better by talking about getting thrashed with bamboo canes by nuns as a kid, and coast guards pointing machine guns at him during a swim for a movie by the statue of liberty. It was a very very interesting interview.... the most of the week. I just think I'm biased because I love every movie that he has ever done (well, the ones that I have seen). He also promoted his show "Flash forward".

The XX performed - have not heard of them and did not care for it.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Eps 209: Babies are born with the skill of dance, and their favorite place to get down....

...all up IN their crib. bahaha (I thought that was pretty clever for a monologue) That's why I love Jimmy, its not always pure news and/or gibberish like the other "ones".

NEWS ALERT: The week of May 10-14 is Rolling Stones week in honor of the rerelease of Exhile on Mainstreet. Every night a new musical artist/group will cover one of the album's songs.

Late: Episode 3 started just after they find out that they are not alone the mysterious 10th floor from the copy machine. Higgins gets dragged kidnapped and dragged away during his quest for a recycling bin for all the "you are not alone" print offs. When the others go looking for them, the meet creepy redhaired glasses man and that creepy guy meets other guy with glasses and they realize they love the sam numbers. At the end Jeff sees another Jeff with a mustache through a doorway... dun dun!

Kristen Stewart was akward as usual and promoted her new movie with Dakota Fanning, The Runaways, where she played Joan Jet. The amazing things that the Bees Gees have accomplished and Jimmy's SNL Barry Gibb talk show skit took the conversation to the end of the segment where they all sang together. Dr. Drew from Celebrity Rehab also came and talked about Celebrity Rehab and Sober House, and the struggles in helping the addicts.

The Script is one of my favorite bands and this is why... enjoy.

Eps 208: Charades and the Jersey Shore

Charades = my favoirte couples game. Jimmy Fallon, Higgins and guests Tony Collette, Julianne Moore duked it out in a hilarious challenge of who is the best at guessing/acting out. I like that everyone was really good sports about it and was not too competitive (or they were really good at not showing it).Oh, and Tony was saved from knowing about the Jersay Shore, because she has the excuse of living in another country.

SO, in 70 words: the rest of the show... In "Obama Expressions" the common "determined yet hopeful" face was turned into "Me want health care", "We just saw Biden in the shower", "Hurry, Hurry! Untag me! I'm frozen!" facial expressions. Julianne Moore was called hoodsie back when she was in school in Boston and really knows the ways of the Boston accent. Tony Collette is from Austraia and survives adventures of sharks and spiders that live in pools.

Eps 207: Amy Winehouse's new clothing line, and grandma's DUI

Weekly thank you notes to: Carlos Slimm, richest man on earth for having a pimp name. receipts from best buy, for being unsuccessfully long,"eyebrows for being there, without you we would all look weird", and thank you notes to birthday cards. I have a hard time understanding where he gets all these ideas... or his writers.

Cell phone shootout again showed how much your new camera phone comes in handy, because it might win you a piano OR a $5,000 gift card to Subway like the girl from California did..

Parker Posey in the upcoming movie Happy Tears with Demi Moore, talked about her past with Jimmy, who knew that actors go over to each others parents house. We also learned that both Jimmy and his father are named Jim, and his mom and sister are both Gloria... what originality in the family.

Jenny Anny and G-butts = Jason Sudeikis's co-stars in the Bounty Hunter. I'm really excited to see this movie because I love any movie that has a SNL cast member in it. This most likely means that the writers also work in SNL also... which just means that the movie+actors is a great marriage.

Eps 206: Irish dancing in air and babbling by Mikey Moore

Dancing on air.... My #2 favorite segment after Lick it for $10. I never would have noticed just how weird you look dancing without the ground. I have to say that disco dancing is the most acceptable type with flying in the air.

OH Michael Moore, just annoying.. He should never have a bullhorn, and I scorn the person who sold/gave it to him. He is an amazing director, but he just does not need to have his voice magnified. That gives him more power, if that is possible, that is not needed. Capitolism, a Love Story is out on DVD this week, and I am very interested in renting it to watch...

A nerd spokesperson that I have never heard of before also attended the show.. interseting author called Chris Hardwick who also hosts a show on the G4 network.

Broken Bells performed... just another one of the performers that I have been introduced to from wathcing the show.

Eps. 205: slapfights with gerbals

The Roots sported bandges on their hands from the last show when Jimmy fell cutting his hand with broken martini glasses, which to Jimmy looks like he was in a slapfight with a gerbal.

Forest Whitaker has two movies coming out in the upcoming weeks, Repo Man and Our Family Wedding. He also talks about the Oscars and after parties with a close encounter with madonna's dance off. He wishes he was there, while I wonder why this is such an amazing thing to see, still. I think its just the ridiculousness of the evnet, which is what I could get from Jimmy's tone of voice... hmmmm

Rachael Harris was ridiculous as usual... there were too many starts and stops during the interview, which will prob go to the top of my lish of all time bad guests. She was still funny thought with their break-off, which she won. I'd just like to add that I still really like her in the Hangover.

The National = musical guest

Eps. 204: Hurt by Chelsea bang bang... Martinis are dangerous

Chelsea Handler + martini glasses = disaster.

Her book, Are you there Vodka, its me Chelsea... should be a start to think why this is a bad idea... Even though she felt bad and everything is ok, I have to admit that it gave more press to the show. She was very humorous during and after, and was one classy comedian.

Eps 203 - playing Helen Keller

Last night was full of firsts... Abigail Breslin tweeted for the first time and Andy Samberg showed up to perform Lazy Sunday from SNL with guest Chris Parnell for the first time live.

Other than the firsts, Abby Breslin talked of her playing the part of Helen Keller on Broadway. Also Jimmy went to the audience for inspiration in the segment "freestylin' with the roots". Not only does Jimmy know how to make us laugh, the Roots are just as hilarious... especially Questlove the drummer..

Oh, also Ted Leo and the Parmacists performed... I've never heard of them.

Episodes 199-202

So, I fell of the face of earth and into the planet of those who work till midnight.. But I was able to catch up with my favorite late night show. I was realizing during my marathon of Jimmy that he not only gets the best guests, but he gets them to have fun and not just talk about meaningless things like some other annoying ones that just "awarded" his old show back.
Anyhoo... here are the last week's shows for you to catch up, if needed.

Friday, March 5, 2010
Mike Myers, Matt Lucas, Joanna Newsom
Thursday, March 4, 2010
Zach Galifianakis, Mia Wasikowska, Silversun Pickups
Wednesday, March 3, 2010
Barbara Walters, Regina King, Erykah Badu
Tuesday, March 2, 2010
Wesley Snipes, Emilie de Ravin, Ludacris
Monday, March 1, 2010
Robert Pattinson, Judah Friedlander, Mario Batali

Mike Myers did not dissappoint, Zach Galifianakis acts like his character in the Hangover, and Barbara Walters is still spunky.

Eps. 198 Jimmy is baaaack!

So, Jimmy is now back on from the two week hiatus for the Olympics. Among the guests were Judah Friedlander, Mario Batali, and the big star of the night.... Robert Pattinson. I am neither team Edward or team Jacob, but that does not mean that I don't fall into the trap that most high school girls have and I wont admit it, ever. His segment and "Robert is bothered" skit was an exciting way for Jimmy to celebrate his one year anniversary and come back form being off air for so long. So for the reason for it being the one year anniversary, I linked the blog title to the entire episode and posted "Robert is bothered". "Late" was also part of the nights line-up... there was just so much in the episode that I don't have the room or time to ramble on.. so enjoy!

What did she do?

October 7,2009..... the day Jimmy was abused by a crazy person. AND I have inside info from my childhood "brother" and celeb agent assistant that she really IS nuts. This may be a joking bit, but its serious. Jimmy is nervously laughing, I can tell.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Vancouver has stolen Jimmy.....

.....and his time spot on NBC. He admitted that he will be in Vancouver for the second week for the Olympics in an interview with Hannah Teter, and her family syrup from Vermont that was in the last lick it for 10... Olympic theme. By the way, Jimmy did not post an entry on Samsung's contest website :( BUT I am on a mission to find pictures of him at the 2010 Olympics!!

Friday, February 19, 2010

Lick it for 10

Ten dollars = what you could win if you lick a globe with Hannah Teter's brand of syrup.. this is just one of the earliest forms of tributes to the Olympics. What wont people do for money?....

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Jimmy and Shaun......and Wendy

Since Jimmy isn't on due to the Olympics and because i have a super crush on Gold medalist Shaun White (he competes tonight......and I know he needs a hair cut, but I don't care) here are two clips from when he stopped by to visit Jimmy back in Nov.

Your thoughts.....

No Jimmy this week...

In lieu of the Olympics taking over NBC and no Jimmy, it is a great opportunity to show the amazing efforts of Jim-boy and the luge.

Even though this was taped at the beginning of December its spirit still stands today as an image on NBC's main page for the Olympics. This was also brought up in a recent conversation with Brian Williams on the show. Williams proved how in control and respected Jimmy is to his production staff and others because during the segment he was mostly taped from the waist up in the luge spankie.

And now I present... or NBC does... and Jimmy.... Lugging From the Streets.

Eps 197: Your voice is so low and cool, here have some helium.

Where am I? LATE.. not the time of day or part of the title of Jimmy's show, but the name of the latest mini-series. The series premiere was almost identical to the show "Lost". Everything to moving music, Jeff and Jane = Jack and Kate... someones legs getting stuck, someone (Higgins) not breathing and the elevator blowing up. Oh and this is based on the true story of how a group of people survive a horrible elevator crash onto the mysterious 10th floor. duhn duhn.

But before the premiere, Jimmy needed some time to write his thank you cards for the week. "thank you Olympic rings for showing fruit loops what they are capable of becoming if they really apply themselves." Also in the line-up was figure skating for being like if hockey came out of the closet, and to John Mayer in his Playboy article for finally putting the rummer that he is an ass to rest, NOT.

The rest of the show consisted of guests inhaling helium.... well, because its cool, if Jimmy's doing it then why don't we all. I came to the conclusion that Selena Gomez sounds like Fran from The Nanny.

And now ladies and gentlemen... or just the one person that reads it, 60 miraculous words to sum up a little circus called Late Night with Jimmy Fallon... Wolfman Benicio Del Toro is surprisingly funny, "Hey double trouble, wanna ride" with helium assisting. Selena Gomez can finally say she is on an Emmy winning show... and her new single with The Scene isn't kiddie bop anymore. Super bowl champ Reggie Bush and "entrepreneur" Kim Kardashian are just awkward, but more so with inhaling helium and easy targets for the press.

Eps 196 "Happy Valentine's day to you...here's a picture of my kidneys"

Thursday 2/11/2010
Guests: John Lithgow, Jessica Szohr, Neon Indian

My fav late Nite skit is "Bothered with Robert Pattinson". Jimmy's impression is so dead on and i literally laugh from start to finish. this Valentine's day edtion is nothing short of brilliant....."YOU JACKASS!"

The delight continued when Jimmy decided to treat us to a love ballad called "Cougar Huntn'"......Jimmy sure does look sexy in a cowboy hat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John Lithgow was engaging as usual. Lithgow has so many exciting projects to talk about that he could have been the only guest on the show and it would have been a secess. Jessica Szohr wasn't memerable but she seemed to be very happy to be there., I was so impressed with the musical guest, Neon Indian, that i downloaded their entire album!

Eps 195: Fiece finger skating and product placement

Continuing late night's recognition of the winter Olympics, Jimmy introduced the sport of finger skating. Three audience member's routines included such moves as the flying Jackson and the bearded snow leopard.

But that was not all of the pre-interview fun. Jimmy's own product placement preacher popped in and gave an marvelous sermon on the importance of the $5 foot long at subway. Can I get a hallelujah!?!?!?

Just Sixty... Legendary talkshow host and writer for Carson, Dick Cavett reminicises the day a guest health expert dropped dead on his show. Project Runway star and designer Christian Siriano proves what hot mess, tranny mess has done for code talking, oh and how it relates to the day he designed an outfit for Lady Gaga's today show appearence. Then alternative band Yeasayer.

Eps 194: Hot Polygamists, Poker Faces and The Dawson

Tuesday 2/09/2010
Guests: Bill Paxton, James Van Der Beek, Jeff Musial, Regina Spektor

James Van Der Beek and Jimmy Fallon as the band "7 degrees Celsius" in an SNL skit in 1999

i'm gonna us a different format tonight; so here we go.....

The show started off with a really short monologue and didn't really have any stand out jokes-this was fine because afterwords Jimmy gifted us with the Spiderman VS. Superman break dance battle....Spiderman was awesome and made me really laugh. i laughed even more when Jimmy joined in and tried to learn how to dance. For some reason i think it's hott when a guy is a goofy dancer (ex: Jimmy Fallon, Steve Carell's dancing in The Office and Dan In Real Life and Paul Dano at the end of Little Miss Sunshine) But the hottness of Jimmy and his dancing did not end because super hottie Bill Paxton was the first guest. Paxton is there promoting his show Big Love on HBO. Big Love is one of my fav shows; it's about a polygamists family. I would just like to say that i am a strong believer in monogamy.... but i'd be more than happy to be one of Bill Paxton's wives! There is a plotline on the show about the family co-owning an Idian casino so Paxton and Jimmy played Liar's Poker and they sang a little "poker face"... Paxton one! The the hottness continued when THE DAWSON aka James Van Der Beek stopped by and he and Jimmy reminisced on when he hosted SNL, "when US magazine was a respected monthly publication", what happens when "Miley Cryrus farts in the wrong direction" and about Dawson's Creek. The Night ended with a Genius performance from the gifted and inspiring Regina Spektor. I think Spektor sounds amazing live...she sang "machine"....everyone should go buy her new album "far".

Eps 193: Wrestling with Stephen Colbert and the olympics

Drinking beer lessens the effects of osteoporosis according to a part of the monologue. I guess this is a selling point to college student's parents, maybe we will be the healthiest generation minus the immense smoking habits. Going along with fads, "Late" - a spoof of "Lost" was previewed. The first episode will air on Friday, proving that elevators are not safe and never get off on the 10th floor.

The upcoming winter Olympics were a big part of the show, from the snow bobbing event to Colbert's followers recent adoption of the US speed skating team. Bobbing for medals in a pool of snowballs just meets the classification for honoring this worldwide event. Congrats Jim, and Colbert is a comedic genius and a classy guy that stepped up when a dutch bank slipped out as the speed skating team's sponsor.

Late Night also recognized the Tea Party Convention in Tenn. over the weekend with Tea Party Karaoke. Audience members recited words of speakers at the convention to a tune, they really know how to pick out the most ridiculous ones. end of subject.

Now highlights in 60 words... Glamour magazine results, Do Jimmy- Dump Conan- Marry Colbert, means women would cheat on Colbert with Jimmy because hes "totes hot". Jimmy and Colbert wrestle in elevators. Willie Garson, Jobless in the US? Go to Bogota, Columbia? Wine and a french accent make the show better in cooking segment with Eric Ripert. Jimmy stores his house phone in the toaster oven.

Eps 192: Boring Columbia students and sleeping with Al Roker

Starting with Brian Williams slow jamming the news with Jimmy and the Roots about Obama's budget, the show led into Jim's week long thank you card writing time. But before thanking apple for the shaq-sized Iphone=the Ipad, boxes of chocolates, lasors and typewriters, Jimmy slow jammed with Williams about Obama's back door policy and the need for shrinkage for the $12.1 trillion debt... but dont worry all of it had to do with *politics*. Maybe Obama should thank Funyons like Jimmy did and then he would need to deal with back door policies.
Scholars from Columbia Univ. also invaded the show but needed a bost to their elbowpad and wine drinking hats imediately as they started talking...

Now 60 exciting words plus an added 15 just because.... Traveling to Haiti Brian Williams slept with Al Roker in a tent on the airport tarmack proving his devotion to our country and journalism. Williams travels with backup ipods, favors Pauly-D, and confesses he lacks a back tattoo. Amanda Seyfried was honored to be with Channing Tatum in NC for two months... with his shirt off. *tear*. Comedian Sean Patton likes to passout instead of standing up for a fight, oh and hes from New Orleans.

Eps. 191: DON'T BLINK!!!!!

Thursday 2/4/2010
Guests: Channing Tatum, Aubrey Plaza, Hot Chip

*Jimmy once again was very giggly!!!

*In the monologue Jimmy addressed: Obama's mother in law will continue to live in the white house/ "buy Ford because Toyota is trying to kill you"/ ABBA World, a park in London/ Corn beef, if eaten for breakfast, will help you lose weight.

*NBC is tying to figure out what shows to put in the newly open 10pm time slot every night. Luckily Jimmy has the inside scoop and shared some of the new shows with us.....they are all combos of other successful shows
-Hard Nips with Chris Matthews (Hard Ball with Chris Matthews/Nip Tuck)... Higgins wanted to call this "Ball Tuck"!...and jimmy began to giggle.
-The Ghost Flasher (The Ghost Whisperer and Flash Forward)
-E.D.: Erectile Dysfunction (Men of a Certain Age and ER)... "If this show lasts more than 4 hours, call a doctor."
-Skank Tank (Shark Tank/Secret Diary of a Call Girl)
-Wake and Bake Lake (Wake Up with All/Weeds/The Lake)
Jimmy giggled his way through the whole segment!

*During "Freestyle'n with The Roots: Olympics Edition" we met Amanda (she put the moves on Jimmy, and he liked her "blue leopard tank thingy") who like hockey and wants to live in Tiland and Lavell who named a new snowboarding trick "The Triple Board Skip". Amanda's song was a smooth R&B track while Lavell's was in the style of a 90's boy band...Jimmy did some sweet dancing. Lastly there was a big guy named Michael who wants to win a medal in gymnastics and where a pink figure skating outfit; his song was a tribute to Bob Marley.

*Channing Tatum taught us some of the acting advice that his dad (who is not an actor) told him...."DON'T BLINK...GREAT ACTOR'S DON'T BLINK. DID STEVEN MCQUEEN BLINK, NOPE....DON'T BLINK!!! his dad was in the movie (Dear John) and got to say one line... he took it very seriously. Channing and Jimmy played "random object 3pt shoot out" and Channing won.

*Aubrey Plaza shared that she used to follow her grade school Principal home in a box...she also does a weird impression of Joy Behar

*Hot Chip performed with The Roots. They sounded pretty good together live.

Eps. 190 Why the seas are blue, and gods cocaine

Wednesday night's show started with a BANG, Guest love's "?uestions". He started with the meaning of life, and the reason the seas are blue, which is his own evil doing when he murdered the smurfs and dumped thier bodies. I really wish we could meet so I can show him my anger. I just loved those little blue creepy people teaching me true life lessons.

Again he shocked us with thoughts of winning a talent show while he was naked, and how snow is god's cocaine. Drumers are so wacked out... which is the best form of comedy, or ones to pick on and writers make up stuff for and can pull it off like reality, I guess. This was the best intro to "dance you hats and gloves off", which makes people jump jiggle and shake off hats and gloves without touching them, while dancing to music... he who must not be named cant even come close to all this amazingness.

And now the rest of the episode in 60 words.
Jessica Alba understands the game of beer pong from audience, then doesnt even get any cups to Jimmy's two, and apparently is weird to kiss your friend (Ashton Kutcher) in a movie. Really... is it that hard? Michales Strahan's feet talk to his socks... shocker, then him and Jimmy agree on the Saints for the super bowl. Haper Simon performed?

Go to latenightwithjimmyfallon.com to watch the full episode.

Eps. 189: Spit Takes, Groundhog Love'n And Throwing Snow At Al Roker

Tuesday 2/2/2010
Guests: Meredith Vieira, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Motion City Soundtrack

*Jimmy was very chatty tonight. He was laughing a lot and was being very silly with Higgins.

*In the monologue Jimmy addressed: doppelganger week on facebook/John Edwards/a cat with a knee replacement/golf balls with Tiger Woods' mistresses on them.

*Since The Oscar nominations were announced earlier that morning so Jimmy decided to pick the winners. He picked Avatar to win Best Picture and Best Director and believes that Jeff Bridges will win Best Actor. For Best Actress, he had a lot of trouble picking; he and Higgins both admitted that not only did they not see Helen Mirren in The Last Station...but they didn't even know what it was! lol He narrowed it down to Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep eventually picking Streep.

* In honor of Groundhog day, Captain Kirk sang a very sexual song .... jimmy was embarrassed but not shocked.

* During the game Competitive Spit takes this one guy's spit take looked with a scene from the film The Perfect Storm.... seriously..... but they won so it was worth it.

*Meredith Vieira's son Gabe is prob mortified that his mother told a story about him peeing in public as a child. Vieira and Jimmy made an Oscar bet: If The Hurt Locker wins Best Picture she gets to spit take in Jimmy's face and if Avatar wins, he gets to spit take in her face....what happens when Up In The Air wins???? (that's right i said it!) Jimmy then played two fun games with Vieira. He asked her 3 questions from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (which she hosts during the day) and she got a question wrongs lol. They also played an intense game of snowball throwing; Jimmy won 55 to 30 because he hit the moving Al Rocker target and got 50 points!

*Jesse Tyler Ferguson interview was about 2 minutes long...honestly, the only thing memorable was that he said he didn't wash his hands...or something like that.....oh, and he told some story about seeing Hilary Swank in a car.

*i fell asleep during Motion City Soundtrack....... yet i awoke when they finished and stayed up till a little after 5am..... i wonder what that says about their performance?

6-bee eps 1

Late Night's new parody series is "6-bee"; a spoof of the very popular and critically acclaimed Fox musical dark comedy.

Jimmy and the Late Night gang need $375 to buy cue cards. After talking to the assistant director of financial accounting, played by Fred Armisen, Jimmy realizes that if he wants cue cards he will have to take matters into his own hands. So how will they get the money- they will enter Glee Club sectionals! so what if they have never sung together, performed together, that some of them can't even sing and that one of them is blind in one eye!?! SO WHAT? Jimmy convinces them that they have worked too hard to let the show fail and they all decide to enter sections- because they are special. The eps ends in a fantastic cover of "Living on a Prayer". Jimmy, Miles, Bashir, Higgins and SNL's Abby Elliot have memorable solos.

Eps. 188: Clock suckers and double dutch

Whats cell phone shoot? Its just another genius game, this one a cross between slot machines and cellphone tag and with really super dooper prizes. The dad won.... THE clock sucker, girl in the green shirt was the big winner, getting a basket of eggs (hopefully she wont use them as the metaphor for her dating life).

And now the last night's (monday) show in 60 words. GO...... 6-bee launched, Rosario Dawson made Quest Love smile and double timed Higgins and Jim-boy in double dutch (Higgins- father or Jimmy's sidekick in crime?), Tony Siragusa talked superstitions for the Superbowl while an audience member thinks slimy 2-week worn underwear is "yummy" and NKOTB once again is only loved by the ones they wooed Back on the old Block... "sorry".

All about Jimmy

Hi all! For those of you that know Jimmy as the hilariously witty host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this will be a fun review, but for others this will be the first day of the rest of your life. Coming from his over 100 episode stint at Saturday Night Live from 1998-2004,and movie roles he had the chance to host Late Night when Conan O'Brian left to host the Tonight Show - the best decision that NBC has made in its career, well besides E.R. (but that is now off the air....).
Last week was a huge scare when talks of Leno (this will be the one and only time his name will be uttered in the blog or my life) moving back to the Tonight Show came about. I was worried that again NBC was going to make a bad decision in moving Jimmy away. But Leno was back in and Conan out... They lost a legend FOREVER... rip the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian. Next week will begin a "what you should have seen" montage of his weekday episodes, and now is the greatest combination of guest, host to date.
